A 59-year-old Palestinian man died, on Thursday, five months after he sustained injuries as a result of an Israeli military attack on the Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarem in the northwestern part of the West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced, on Thursday, that the citizen, Ibrahim Mohammad Ali Mahameed, 59, died as a result of being shot by Israeli forces in the Nur Shams camp, on October 19, 2023.

The Ministry added that Mahameed sustained critical gunshot wounds to the back and abdomen when he attempted to pull his injured son, Taha Ibrahim Mahameed, to safety.

Mahameed was critically injured and remained in the Intensive Care Unit at the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital in Tulkarem where he succumbed to his wounds.

The child, Taha, 16, was shot and killed on October 19, in addition to eleven others, and injured dozens more during a brutal attack against the Nur Shams refugee camp.

During protests, occupation forces shot the child in the eye and left him to bleed for over an hour, while a sharpshooter shot his father in the back as he attempted to move the wounded child away from danger.


Israeli forces have killed 412 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of the Israeli military onslaught against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

In the Tulkarem governorate alone, the occupation army has killed 79 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian News & Information Agency (WAFA).
