Israeli occupation forces shot and injured a 14‑year‑old Palestinian child on Sunday evening during a military invasion of Silwad, east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank’s central region.
Raed Hamed, head of the Silwad Municipality, reported that the child was struck with live ammunition in the leg after illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers attacked the Tal al‑‘Asour area overlooking the town.
According to Hamed, the colonizers — some driving four‑wheelers — invaded Palestinian lands, chased residents, and assaulted several Palestinians in the area.
Residents mobilized to repel the colonizer incursion before Israeli occupation forces invaded the area simultaneously and opened fire at the civilians confronting the attack.
Medics from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) rushed to the town, treated the child at the scene, and transported him to a hospital in Ramallah.
The assault on Tal al‑‘Asour is part of a sustained pattern in which armed colonizers, operating under the protection of Israeli forces, intensify their presence on strategic hilltops surrounding Silwad.
Over recent months, colonizer groups have repeatedly attempted to seize or establish outposts in the area, with Israeli forces routinely intervening to suppress Palestinian residents resisting these encroachments.
Also on Sunday, Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of invasions across the occupied West Bank, deploying troops, breaking into homes, conducting field interrogations, and abducting several Palestinians in multiple districts.
