Israeli military bulldozers uprooted dozens of olive trees west of Beit Surik village, northwest of Jerusalem, in preparation for construction of the Separation Wall in the area.
Dozens of residents attempting to reach their farmlands clashed with soldiers while the military bulldozers were uprooting the trees, a source at the Beit Surik village council reported. The soldiers used excessive force against the residents, according to the source..
The orchards, located in al-Khalla area, belong to Mohammad Sheikh, Hasan Sa’eed, Khaleel Ali, Mohammad Al-Sheikh and Khaleel Hilal.
Over the last four months, Israeli soldiers have uprooted trees from dozens of dunams that belong to Beit Surik residents in order to construct the Wall, which will completely isolate the village from the rest of the Palestinian areas as well as from Jerusalem.
