Right wing activists, Opponents of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s disengagement plan blocked the busy Ayalon Highway around Tel Aviv during Sunday morning rush hour, causing massive jams.

Protesters blocked the high way, sat fire to tires and scuffled with angry drivers, who attempted to move them from the middle of the street.

Police and fire fighters arrived to the scene within 20 minutes, cleared the way for traffic and detained 25 protesters.

Right wing activists have blocked several road junctions across the country in protest against disengagement and in order to exhaust the police. 

Meanwhile thousands of right wing activists are gathering around Haram Al-Sharif in the old city of Jerusalem in an attempt to enter the yard of the Holy Shrine against police ban. Some 3,000 policemen are deployed inside the old city of Jerusalem.
