Israeli military court sentenced Tuesday an army officer to do four moths of “military work†for taking part in the killing of a 3-years-old Palestinian child.
The incident took place at a military check post near the village of Barata’ in the northern west bank on July 25, 2003.
As a Palestinian car carrying child Mamoud Jawdat, his mother and grandmother arrived at the check post, soldiers stationed inside an armored carrier opened fire, causing the immediate death of Jawdat.
Israeli Military Police opened an investigation in the case and pressed charges against two army officers. Both were accused with causing death by negligence.
