One killed, 20 Wounded in a Tel Aviv Explosion

One woman was killed and about 20 wounded in a bomb explosion at 7 A.M. Sunday on Tel Aviv’s Har Zion Street, close to the central bus station.

Police believe that the bomb was planted by Palestinian resistance operatives. If proven so, it would be the first attack inside Israel since March.

Medical sources reported that five of those wounded sustained moderate to serious wounds.

According to Israel Radio, Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, Fatah’s military wing, claimed responsibility, saying it was to avenged assassinations of two top Brigades commanders and the killings of other Palestinians.

Police closed off the area and few Palestinians were detained.

‘This was not a suicide bomber but a device planted next to the bus station in a bunch of weeds,’ Tel-Aviv Police chief told Israel Radio.
