In a pioneering move to triumph over the economic blockade, the Ibn Qabatia School in Nablus has created a cooperative borrowing fund to assist those in need during this period in which many Palestinians are not being paid.

Teacher and Hamas member, Wael Hashash, came up with the idea and passed in on to fellow teacher and Fateh member, Bashar Muslamani. Together they presented the project idea to 35 teachers who are participating by putting in between 100 and 150 shekels per month. The collected funds are then passed out among those in need. The project will continue until salaries are finally paid.

Hashash estimates that the initiative is widely considered a positive step and he suggests that more schools adopt such a program in order to ensure that all Palestinians survive the economic crisis.
