An unidentified Palestinian man was shot and critically wounded on Monday morning after allegedly stabbing and wounded a pregnant Israeli woman in Tekoa settlement, near Bethlehem, according to Israeli sources. The incident took place at a clothing warehouse in the industrial area of the Tekoa settlement, built on illegally seized Palestinian land.
According to the Israeli military, the area around the settlement was placed on lockdown. Local sources report that Palestinians in nearby villagers were told to remain in their homes as the military combed the area for any ‘accomplices’ to the stabbing.
In addition, Israeli authorities have temporarily revoked the work permits of all Palestinians who had been issued permits to work inside the illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, and removed them from their workplaces.
The Israeli woman who was wounded was taken to the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. There was no information released by the military as to where the wounded Palestinian was taken.
