Israeli occupation authorities issued demolition orders on Wednesday targeting 11 Palestinian homes and structures in the town of Hizma, northeast of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank, as part of the ongoing escalation against the community and its residents.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that occupation forces invaded the town, distributing demolition notices for residential homes and commercial structures near the main entrance, under the pretext of “building without a permit”—a pretext systematically used to block Palestinian urban growth around Jerusalem.
The new orders include seven homes and four structures, heightening fears among residents of imminent demolitions in the coming period amid the intensifying campaign against the town.
During the invasion of Hizma, the soldiers were caught on video stealing boxes of bottled water from in front of a commercial shop.
It is worth mentioning that, since dawn Wednesday, the soldiers invaded and ransacked many homes and buildings in Hizma and abducted several young men.
All schools in the town had to shut down for the day to ensure the safety of the students, especially after the soldiers closed streets and were heavily deployed across the town.
For months, Hizma has been subjected to repeated military invasions, home searches, abductions, and the closure of its entrances, while several homes have been turned into military outposts.
These measures accompany a sharp rise in demolition orders and military restrictions imposed on the population.
In recent months, Israeli forces have also issued orders to uproot olive trees and bulldoze agricultural lands in Hizma, as part of a broader policy aimed at tightening control over the town and facilitating colonial expansion in the Jerusalem area.
In related news, Israeli soldiers carried out multiple violations in the Jerusalem area on Wednesday, including the abduction of a young man from Qalandia refugee camp, the renewal of an administrative detention order against another resident, and the assault of a recently released former political prisoner.
Earlier Wednesday, Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of invasions across the occupied West Bank, breaking into homes, closing roads, and abducting dozens of Palestinians, including children, former detainees, and two minors from the Jenin refugee camp.
