On Sunday, Israeli soldiers abducted two Palestinians from Kisan village, east of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.
Media sources said several Israeli military vehicles and paramilitary colonizers’ cars invaded an area in the village, before the soldiers closed streets.
They added that the soldiers stopped, detained, and interrogated several Palestinians before abducting Mahmoud Hasan Hussein Obeyyat, 50, and Aref Ayesh Ibrahim Obeyyat, 32, from their homes.
It is worth mentioning that Kisan is subject to escalating Israeli violations, leading to many injuries among the residents, especially farmers and shepherds, in addition to the destruction of property, including uprooting, bulldozing and confiscating privately-owned Palestinian lands.
In February 2022, the Israeli government approved the theft of 49,000 dunams (21,000 acres) of village land – stretching from the outskirts of the city of Bethlehem on the west all the way to the Dead Sea on the east.
In occupied Jerusalem, the soldiers invaded the town of the ar-Ram, north of the city, before chasing, detaining, and interrogating many Palestinian workers.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”
