On Monday, a group of illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers stormed the Arab Al-Mleihat Bedouin community, northwest of Jericho in the occupied West Bank’s northeastern part.
Hassan Mleihat, the general supervisor of the Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, reported that the colonizers invaded the village in the morning, using quad bikes and four-wheel-drive vehicles affiliated with the “Council of Settlements” in the Jordan Valley.
He added that the colonizers filmed Palestinian homes as they moved through the area, spreading fear and distress among residents who regularly face harassment and direct threats.
Mleihat also stated that the colonizers intimidated students and staff at the Arab Al-Ka’abna Bedouin School, further escalating tensions in the community.
He emphasized that such actions are part of a systematic policy aimed at displacing indigenous residents to facilitate the colonies’ expansion and urged the international community to intervene immediately to protect Palestinian civilians in the village and halt these ongoing violations.
Arab Al-Mleihat, a Bedouin community located northwest of Jericho in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank, continues to face repeated attacks and violations by the paramilitary Israeli colonizers and occupation soldiers.
On Tuesday April 8, an illegal Israeli colonizer attempted to ram a Palestinian teacher with his car while she was heading to a school near Jericho, in the occupied West Bank’s northeastern part.
This community, like many others in the region, endures ongoing challenges as paramilitary colonizers’ groups and Israeli soldiers target its residents and infrastructure.
For instance, colonizers fenced off two Palestinian homes in Arab Al-Mleihat, isolating families and turning their homes into virtual prisons.
In another incident, colonizers attacked a bus transporting schoolchildren and college students, blocking the road and assaulting the passengers.
Last Month, Israeli occupation forces demolished two Palestinian structures and a solar panel room in Arab Al-Mleihat.
These violations are part of a broader pattern of harassment aimed at displacing Palestinian communities and expanding settlements in the area.
The situation in Arab Al-Mleihat highlights the broader struggles faced by Bedouin and Palestinian communities in the West Bank, as they contend with illegal land annexation, violence, and restrictions on their movement and livelihoods.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
